Thank you for your
interest in Bolfing Brothers Marble Inc. Our company is a
family owned and operated business incorporated in 1976.
Since that time we have specialized in “providing the
construction community with beautiful and useful products
for kitchens and baths.” In fact those words, taken from
our mission statement now appear on our letterhead. We are
proud of the history of our firm as part of the greater
Houston homebuilding community.
Our Show
Room
We
understand that a new home or remodel job is a major
investment and the choices can be overwhelming.
Our showroom, located in Cypress , Texas
is staffed with experienced employees who will spend time
with your homeowners comparing and contrasting the various
products and options available on display. "Building Green"?
You have choices. We can help seniors "Age in Place". We
invite homeowners to sit in the tubs, browse our scrapbooks
and spread out samples in a comfortable setting, while they
choose colors, edges and design features to create the look
they want. We keep back issues of Houston House and Home
Magazine, a wonderful design resource for professionals and
homeowners.
Our Communication
We communicate with plumbers and the other trades to
meet your scheduling demands. Our professional installers
are trained to respect your jobsite and do beautiful work.
Part of what we sell is the information to make the
appropriate choice of materials and assurance that the
product will be beautiful and function successfully
years after the sale is complete.

How
Bolfing Brothers Marble Inc. Started
Two brothers, one
with experience in the cultured marble industry and one with
estimating and management skills, conceived of a business
plan around our kitchen table. Pat and Phil inventoried
their garages for an assortment of necessary tools. Their
father’s certificate of deposit at Spring Branch Bank,
together with the equipment I photographed, became the
collateral for the first bank loan and the beginning of a
successful relationship with a small bank, which grew and
helped us, as we in turn grew.
Pat’s mechanical
skills and Phil’s credit allowed us to assemble all of the
specialized equipment as well as construct our facilities;
but we soon outgrew our first manufacturing location on
Karbach Street in Houston. In just a few short years, the
phone bill exceeded the rent on that first shop. Four
acres, 3400 square feet of office/showroom and 25,000 square
feet of warehouse space in Cypress are now home to Bolfing
Brothers Marble Inc.
Although at times
others siblings have been employed, a buyout in 1980 left
one brother, Phil, as the President of Bolfing Brothers
Marble Inc. He chose to continue the name under which we
were incorporated. A “hands-on” manager, Phil insists on
returning phone calls promptly, and following through on
whatever is required. He holds employees accountable to
high standards of behavior and work ethics, demanding
quality performance, safe work habits and customer service.
Relationships with our consultants and vendors span the
years. Our customers know we take care of business. Trade
shows, radio, billboard and ads in print all supplement word
of mouth as the most powerful advertising tool on which we
depend.
Many of the
“firsts” came in response to the growing needs of our loyal
first customers. Custom homebuilder, John Lorino placed the
order for our first cultured marble tub before we owned the
tub mold. Village Builders first requested a Workman’s
Compensation Insurance certificate. Slate finished cultured
marble was introduced into the kitchen countertop market in
California, so our home became the first test kitchen for
the forerunner of the solid surface and granite materials
that are in demand today.
Our Telge Road
facility is home to 50+ employees, working in a facility
designed to respect the environment. We meet industry
standards for air and water quality. Our demand for a safe
workplace and excellent work skills has yielded faithful
long-term employees who recognize the benefits and meet our
standards. The company family has grown to include some
second-generation employees. Average seniority is over 7
years.
Our installers
load up every morning in a fleet of dependable Ford trucks
and cover a large territory of new subdivisions, working in
new homes and updating older kitchens and bathrooms. Over
27 years of service in this field is bringing us repeat
business and second-generation work. Team pictures,
“thank-you’s” and testimonials line the walls as evidence of
our participation in the life of our community.
The arrival of
computers at Bolfing Brothers Marble was a leap of faith
into the ‘Brave New World.’ Now firmly entrenched in our
operation, our database of jobs stretches back to 1989.
Since we work in roughly 1500 homes per year, refinements
and upgrades are a way of life as everyone seeks information
immediately. This is part of the service to our customers
and necessary to remain competitive. High-speed internet
service has been a long time coming to the area but as the
city encroaches the country, our presence on the web is well
established with an informative website,
www.bolfingbrothers.com. The site
is frequently updated with new pictures and product
information. Customers appreciate the ability to do their
research in advance of a showroom visit.
Other challenges
to our company have been painful but not unique. For a
quarter century cultured marble was the source of our
revenue. When the Houston housing starts fell in the 80’s
we traveled to Nashville Tennessee seeking opportunities to
fill our shop with work rather than lay off faithful
employees. As Houston’s construction climate warmed, we
grew adding Starstone to our line. The solid surface
material is a popular replacement for the older laminate
products. We expanded our work in new construction to the
remodeling trade, which offered its own lessons to be
learned.
We have recently
expanded our line of products in response to customer
demands. SileStone of Houston recently approached us to act
as their distributor. The product is manufactured in Spain
and fabricated in Houston. They chose us because of our
reputation for years of service and excellent work. The
engineered stone with the characteristics of granite is now
a part of our product line as well as real granite. Jacuzzi
acrylic whirlpools are also available. Our installers are
problem solvers. They continually upgrade their skills to
meet the shared goals of beauty and function.
Our niche,
however expanded by new products, remains the service we
offer to the builder and homeowner. We walk into an empty
room and turn the designer’s dream into reality with all
custom manufactured materials of consistent quality.
In 1996 lightning
struck, literally and figuratively. We emerged from a major
fire at our facility losing all of the inventory, but not
one customer. Long-term relationships with competent
professionals supported us in spirit and in fact. As our
insurance agents rallied for us, our financial advisors, our
vendors and customers stood by us as we rebuilt. Two of our
builders provided catered lunches for our employees, heavily
burdened with clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Thankfully
we did not lose any major equipment and manufacture
commenced again in 3 days. The physical plant was rebuilt
for efficiency and safety.
We continue to
weather the changes in the economy that allow our costs to
rise without the accompanying increase in our prices.
Government regulations and compliance requirements demand
diligence in our record keeping. Our work for the Tomball
Hospital serves as an example of the complicated process we
had to endure to qualify as an approved supplier. The
information gathering and submitting of forms and contract
revisions took all summer while the actual work was the
easiest part of the job. One happy by-product of the
experience was the fact that 100% of our installers passed
the required drug tests.
We fly the
American flag, the Marine Corp flag and the Texas flag. We
thank God daily for the ability to do business in this free
country and for all the good people He has put in our path.
We honor Him and respect Life in our role as members of the
human race, the business community and the family of God.
Thank you for
your interest in our company. When I see one of our trucks
on the road, I ask God to bless the driver and all those he
comes in contact with that day. So if you see our trucks,
God’s hand extends to you too.
